Allegro

A fast, lively tempo — literally “cheerful” in Italian — generally around 120–156 beats per minute.

The Savvy Take

The most-assigned tempo marking in the repertoire, and the most-rushed. Think “brisk walk with good posture,” not “sprint.” If your allegro falls apart, drop to andante and earn the speed back a notch at a time.
