Free arrangement

Chord

Three or more pitches sounded simultaneously.

The Savvy Take

Not all notes in a chord are created equal. In 90% of piano music, the top note needs to be the loudest (the melody), the bottom note next (the foundation), and the middle notes quietest (the texture). If you play them all at equal volume, it sounds like a muddy block.
