Rallentando

A gradual slowing down of the tempo.

The Savvy Take

Often interchangeable with Ritardando, but sometimes implies a “letting go” or dying away, whereas Ritardando might feel more like a deliberate “holding back.” Use Rallentando for ending a soft phrase gracefully.
