Waltz

A dance in triple meter (3/4 time), characterized by a strong accent on the first beat.

The Savvy Take

The secret to a Viennese Waltz is the second beat. It comes slightly early (or the first beat is slightly delayed), creating a lilt. ONE-da-da, ONE-da-da. Don’t play it like a metronome.
